Puppy Grooming
Doodles. Poodle, and OES like many other long haired dog breeds like Shih Tzu, Yorkie, Pyrenees, require regular grooming from brushing to haircut. Below is a list of important grooming needs for all doodles.
There are so many myths and miss information about grooming that it is hard to figure out truth from fiction.
**START GROOMING AS EARLY AS POSSIBLE**
This we help so much in the long run to desensitize your puppy to the grooming process and help them be comfortable with the grooming process.
Start brushing the week of bringing them home and contact your groomer as soon as possible to start sanitary grooming (Typically 12-16 weeks old)
Brushing
Depending on the length you like to keep your dog's coat will determine the amount of brushing needed.
Daily-Every other day is a MUST to keep your pups coat mat free and healthy To properly brush your dog, you need 3 key things
• Slicker Brush (Long Pin work best) & Metal Comb
• Conditioning/Detangle Spray
Another key part to brushing is technique and the best technique is called Line Brushing.

Bathing
To keep your dog's coat clean and health it is important to bath and blow dry your dog. Typically, a bath is good biweekly or as needed.
Doing a bath and completely blow drying the coat with a high velocity dryer can also help a lot to prevent matting and tangles
Make sure to use a good Shampoo and Conditioner
Haircut
Doodle cuts range in different styles and can be hard to communicate with your groomer. It is very important to fully discuss and use visual pictures to show all options with your groomer to help find the perfect cut for your dog's specific coat and you style.
The most common cut (ON NON-MATED DOGS) is a teddy bear.
In this haircut, the hair on the dog’s body is trimmed evenly to a length of around 0.5 to 2 inches, depending on preference. The cut includes a face, ear, and round feet trim, and a clipped, non-feathered tail cut
